Good evening. It was a beautiful day today in Carson City, Nevada. It was windy, cloudy, and 72 degrees! Absolutely gorgeous!

So​rry I haven't written in awhile. It has been pretty busy around here.

David did good in pool therapy on Thursday; but he always does! Friday was a busy day, too. This weekend went by WAY too fast, as usual. Saturday was a very busy day, and then we went to the Aces game. It was a great game. They lost; 5-4, but it was still a great game. We had fantastic seats, thank you Make-A-Wish!! They were up in the suites above the 'regular' seats. The seats were even padded! It was fun. The only 'down' part (other than the Aces losing) was the gentlemen behind us was a jerk. They don't allow any profanity in the stadium (which is wonderful!)​, so it wasn't that, but he was just crude. I was so glad every time he left for awhile. We got to see Rick, T.J., and Amanda again. They all three came up to say hi, and Amanda gave us some great pictures that were taken when we were there last.

Then Sunday was another extremely busy day. We went to church, then had lunch, the 7 of us, then some grocery shopping.......​just busy, busy, busy. Then today was just a day to remember our war heroes who have sacrificed their lives for our freedom. And today was also a day of cleaning house~~~~ha​ven't had a chance all weekend. Then we had barbecued burgers, along with the potato salad I made this morning. David actually ate 2 servings of potato salad, and 1 1/2 burgers!! He hasn't eaten that much in a long time. I guess you have been praying for his appetite to pick up!! Thanks! So it has been extremely busy lately around here.

David is so glad to be almost done with school!! I am too, actually. Well, for him to be done. We want to do some things this summer; like go to the zoo, go to the lake, go to the park, etc. We will keep Emilee busy this summer! We have less than a month to do some things; before David's surgery. He will not be able to be as active after the surgery, but that is when we are going camping. So it will be a fun summer, hopefully. I just hope it isn't too hot to do those things. I know it won't be too hot up at the lake, so those days should be fun.

David has been feeling ok lately. Overall, I would say things are moving along. He is 'holding his own,' and at this point that is a good thing! I just hope and pray he will continue to eat like he did this evening! It was so fantastic to see him eat! I am a mom who loves to see her children eat! Especially David!! I want him to eat! It seems like such a small thing, but it is a battle we have been fighting for so long, and I am tired of it! But, like I said, overall David is doing good. Not looking forward to surgery #11; but who could blame him! But keep in mind, he is a trooper and he will get through this one, too. I am so very proud of him! He is a tough kid (I was told that at church yesterday). Thank you so much for your prayers for him and for our family.

Good evening.

Thi​ngs have been going ok around here. David is doing ok, but he is still only eating because we make him eat. He has no appetite. He really doesn't want to start taking the Megace again, but we are getting real close to making him take it again. His excuse is, "I am eating," but I told him that is only because we make him! I want him to eat because he is hungry and wants to eat. We won't know if the zinc and/or B12 is working for another 4 months or so. One of the side effects of zinc deficiency is hair loss (just what David needs again), and he is able to pull his hair out right now. And what I mean by that (I now we can all pull our hair out, lol), is he just gives a gentle tug and he pulls his hair out~~~no pain! He said he can't even feel it! So that is worrisome to us. But we will just continue to give him his supplements and pray that they work! That is all we can do.

David is sad he didn't have Bible Study tonight. Hopefully they will have an activity soon. He really misses it already!

David is almost done with school. He has the rest of this week and next week, and that is it! He is doing good, with the exception of math. He is still struggling with it. I told him as long as he passes it, that is all that matters! He is doing very well in all his other classes. Please pray that he passes Math! Thank you.

We will be going to another Ace's baseball game this Saturday. We were given the tickets through Make-A-Wish​, and we are so thankful. We are very excited to go to the game. David is very excited! I am sure it will be a great game! We just hope they win!!!

Pleas​e continue to keep us in your prayers. We are still not sure about our house, but we are not feeling good about keeping it. It is what it is, and it is out of our hands. We cannot afford the $3000+ a month mortgage, and that is all there is to it. Either the bank will help us, or they won't. It is pretty cut and dried. I just can't believe that there are people out there who don't care about anything except the 'almighty dollar.' And I know we aren't alone. It breaks my heart when I hear of other members of our Osteo family who are in the same situation we are in. Medical expenses for a family with a child with a life-threat​ening illness are astronomica​l!!! Totally unbelievabl​e amounts of money that comes out of our pockets! When you figure the insurance company has spent over $1.5 million on David; you know our portion is huge. So basically it comes down to getting David the treatment, and surgeries, he needs; or paying mortgage~~~​~no brainer!! The strange thing is, we didn't have too much of a problem in the beginning. But then it all catches up with you! Anyway, please continue to pray for us. Thank you so much.

Well, that is about all that is happening around here. Bryon has to be at work at 4am tomorrow, so we are going to bed. Please pray that David has a good day at PT tomorrow~~~​pool therapy tomorrow. Good evening.

Dav​id had a pretty good day today. He did school, of course, and he can't wait until it is over. He will have a summer vacation for the first time in 3 summers. When he was diagnosed he couldn't do school the whole time he was in the hospital, he was too sick a lot of the time. So he ended up having school basically all year long. So he is really looking forward to a summer without having to play 'catch up' all summer! YAY!

It is a beautiful day today. It is cold, very windy (go figure), and partly sunny! And, it was snowing a little bit ago. It is supposed to snow tomorrow and Sunday, too. Yep, gotta love spring in northern Nevada!!! Actually, I love that we are actually having a spring this year. Many years we have gone straight from winter to summer! So it is nice to have a real spring~~~ev​en though it feels like winter just won't let go! It is gorgeous today!

Just to clear up a possible misundersta​nding; the light at the end of the tunnel for David is the (hopefully) end of surgeries. We will NEVER be done with this cancer journey. David will have scans and medication for the rest of his life!!! We are just praying that the remaining 2 surgeries will be his last!! We think he has been through more than enough for one child. I know there are other children who have been through more, and we pray for them daily. We know there are parents who have been through more, and we also pray for them daily. I just wanted you to know that I didn't mean we were done with this cancer journey.

Ple​ase continue to pray for David and his eating. He is still getting nauseous often, so doesn't want to eat. Can't say that I blame him, but still. I don't know how much of it is physical and how much of it is emotional. It is still the one thing he has 100% control of in his life. His life has been out of his control for 2 1/2 years. And it breaks our hearts that such a wonderful child has had to endure what David has. We cherish every day with him; because we never know. This cancer could come back at ANY time; as our Osteo family members can attest to. So we thank God every day that David is alive and relatively healthy. God has brought David through a lot, and we are truly thankful.

David is 'counting the days' until we go camping. I am too, but don't tell him, hee-hee. It is such a fantastic bonding time with just him and me. It is a tradition that I will do as long as I can; as long as David wants to. I just hope there is no bear this year!!

Please keep Elaine in your prayers, she had some tests today; MRI, hearing, etc. Please pray that all her tests come back good, and that her cancer is still gone (she had a brain tumor). Thank you.

Good evening.

We are home from San Francisco, already! We got a bit of a late start this morning, I wanted to make sure David had something to eat before we left. We got out of here around 7am. We got to S.F. at 11:15. Then we went across the street to Pete's Deli for lunch. David didn't eat, as usual!! Then we went and got the xrays on David's legs. Our appointment with Dr. O was for 12:40, and we were called into the room at 12:45! Trust me, that is some kind of record!! We have waited as long as 3 hours before! Then when Dr. O came in he said that the growth plate in David's tibia is closed, and the growth plate in his femur only has a couple of areas that aren't totally closed; but it is mostly closed. So, David has one more lengthening​, and if he should grow between the lengthening and the revision (to put in the non-expanda​ble implant) than they will just 'make up the difference' in the implant at that time. Yay! So we know that we are looking at just 2 more surgeries, barring any broken implants!! The surgery to lengthen his leg will be June 28th (Jennifer's 1/2 birthday). We will have to go to the Bay Area the night before because surgery is tentatively set for 7am. We were very happy that the growth plates are closed, so he only has one more lengthening. As long as he has no more future surgeries, he will end his treatment with a grand total of 12 surgeries!! Way too many, but I guess it could be worse! Then we got out of there at 1:30 and made it home by 5:30!! Thank you for all the prayers! It was a pretty good, albeit long, day.

David is 'famous' there. When Dr. O called to schedule the surgery, he was talking to the person on the other end of the phone about David. He said, 'the kid that was on YouTube.........​yeah, that one.' We just laughed! Then he told David not to show anyone in the waiting room the video! He is so funny. We really like him. It wasn't his fault the prosthesis broke! But he likes watching David's 'trick.' So that was pretty funny.

We found out there are a couple more things David can't do; he can't go sledding, and that is a bummer; and he can only do the 'tame' things at a water park. In David's words, he can't do any of the 'fun' slides and things at the water park. But he can ride his bike, yay! And he can go cross-count​ry skiing, yay! It is just kind of a bummer that the list of things he can't do with his prosthesis is longer than the list of things he can do. *sigh* But he is alive, so life is good.

Well, that is all the news for today. We are happy that for the first time in almost 3 years there is a light at the end of this tunnel; that is NOT an oncoming train!! Good evening. It was a beautiful day today in Northern Nevada. Cool, windy, cloudy, etc. My favorite kind of day.

Well, we leave tomorrow morning for UCSF. Bryon would like to get out of the house by 6:30am. We know there will be traffic in Sacramento, and we need to get to San Francisco in time to have lunch before David's appointment. And we have to get his x-rays before the appointment. Dr. O wants David's left knee x-rayed this time, too. He wants to see if the growth plate is closed in his left leg. If it is, then we know his next lengthening will be the last one. And then we will have a better idea of a game plan for when to do the revision to 'install' the permanent implant. So hopefully it will be a very informative appointment!! Please pray that we have a safe trip over the mountains tomorrow. At least it won't be snowing!! Thanks for your prayers.

Good evening.

I am finally able to update; I have a working computer again. I was unable to tolerate it the way it was, so I had a hard time updating. So, now I am able to update again! Yay!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Ours was busy, as usual! Yesterday we spent the whole day shopping and doing some cleaning. Today we went to church, then came home and had lunch, and finished up most of the cleaning. I am doing laundry as we speak. So it has been an extremely busy weekend.

Dav​id ate ok for lunch today. We bought some chipotle chicken kabobs at Costco, and he ate two of them. We also had baked potatoes (he didn't have one), salad (he didn't eat any), artichokes (he doesn't like them), and mixed berries (which he DID eat)! One of the things I like about this time of year is all the fruit and berries! We had blackberrie​s, raspberries​, strawberrie​s, and blueberries for lunch. David liked all but the raspberries​, so he just picked them out. So he did ok with his eating. He could do better, but at least he is eating something.

W​e have a 'game plan' with his supplements​, so far. He takes 1000mcg of vitamin B12 daily. It is a sublingual pill he puts under his tongue~~~no shots!! YAY!! His zinc is a homeopathic lozenge he takes daily. We will check his levels in 6 months to see where they are. Please pray that these supplements are effective in getting his levels where they need to be. Thanks. Connie said that Zinc deficiency will also affect taste; so maybe that is why he doesn't like to eat~~~~noth​ing tastes good! Poor kid. Thank you for your prayers.

We have to make a trip to San Francisco on Thursday. David has an appointment with his surgical oncologist. We have some questions for him; hopefully they will be answered favorably. We will also be planning David's next leg lengthening. I am sure we will schedule it for the end of June. That means that David will spend our week-long camping trip with staples in his leg, but that can't be helped. Then he will get the staples out after we get back, and we will schedule his next set of scans for the same time (only one trip to the Bay Area that way). We live in 3-month increments! And I am someone who has to know exactly what is going on, and what is going to happen when. Well, as much as possible, anyway. As we know with David, he is our curve-ball thrower; and we have learned to 'expect the unexpected' with him!!! We take it one day at a time, but still try to plan as much as possible! Please pray for our safe trip to UCSF on Thursday. Thanks.

Good evening.

To answer a couple questions and clear things up; David is a Junior this year. He should be a Sophomore, he is a year ahead. He will graduate next year, God willing. He does have some problems with his learning (caused by his chemo treatments)​, so it is good he is a year ahead; just in case. So far he is able to 'hold his own' for the most part. Happy Mother's Day!!!

We had a great camping trip. It was a bit chilly and windy, but beautiful!! We had a great time. Now David and I can't wait for July when we go for a week (well, 9 days, actually)!! It is going to be so much fun!

We got the results of a request you have been praying for~~~ David's proficiency test results! He passed them all!! He passed with flying colors!
He did GREAT!! He is above 'Meets Standards' in all of them! He is so happy he passed them all, now he doesn't have to retake them. Now he can graduate!! Yay!! Thank you so much for all your prayers.

I hope all you mothers out there had a great Mother's Day!

Good evening.

Sor​ry I haven't written for so long, I am having some trouble with my computer. I am going to give it a rest over the weekend while we are camping; hopefully that will fix it! There is more to it than that, but I don't want to go into it right now.

David is at a Christian concert tonight with his Bible Study class. I hope he is having fun.

I heard from Connie this morning. David's B12 is still in the 'normal range,' so they are looking into what dose to give him and how often. But the 'new' problem is that his Zinc is low. He takes a multivitami​n every day, so she has to figure out how to get his Zinc replaced. The low Zinc may be responsible for his lack of appetite. I tell you; if it isn't one thing, it's another! So we are in limbo right now. We aren't sure why his Zinc is low, but it is not good. So. . . . please pray we can figure it out and get it taken care of. Thanks.

We are getting very excited to go camping! David is very excited! He can't wait! He is doing ok with school. Math is still his worst subject, he struggles with his memory and processing. Please continue to pray for him. He only has about a month left of school, and we want him to pass. Thank you for your prayers.

Ple​ase pray for our Osteo family members who have to get through this first Mother's Day without their precious children; Chris (Sammie), Jill (Nick), Vicki (Mattie), Dawn (Lindsey), Karen (Keaton), and others I know I have forgotten~~​~God knows who they are. Thank you for your prayers.

Good evening.

Wel​l, the calender says end of April, but it is December outside!! The ground is white, and it is still snowing! This is Spring in Northern Nevada. By Monday it is supposed to be close to 70*!! Amazing!

David is doing ok. He is at Bible Study right now. He is sad that Bible Study is almost over. There are only two more weeks after tonight, and David is not looking forward to having 'nothing' to do on Wednesday night! But they will be planning summer activities, so that is great!

Schoo​l is going ok. Math is still his worst, and most difficult, subject. But he is doing his best, and that is all we ask of him. Please continue to pray for him. Thank you.

We are still having fun with sweet Emilee. On Wednesdays I take her to a 'Toddler Time' play group. She is shy at first, and clings to me, but then she warms up and has a lot of fun. It is good for her! Tomorrow we go to the swim center for David's pool therapy. It will be another busy day.

We are getting really excited for Mother's Day weekend. We are going camping!! That is our tradition. We have done it for 3 years now!! Our favorite way to spend Mother's Day! I get to spend it with all 5 kids, and we have a great time!!! Plus, it is nice sometimes to be away from phones, internet, etc. for a few days!!

Well, the ground is white; the trees are all flocked; and Berlynn is going crazy out there! She LOVES the snow!

Good evening.

Thi​s will be a long post, so bear with me. It was a fantastic day!! We got to the baseball stadium at 10:30 this morning, and were met by Amanda. As soon as we got there David was taken down to the clubhouse. He was given a baseball, by Amanda, to take to the clubhouse to have signed by some players. While David was doing his thing, Rick, the general manager of the Reno Aces, gave us a tour of the stadium; even in places normally off-limits. It was very fun. Then David was throwing a ball with T.J., the vice president of Baseball Operations/​Communicati​ons, in front of the dugout. They surprised David with a bat that was signed by all the players. He was pretty excited about that!! They also gave him a hat and an Arizon Diamondback​s jersey. Then we just kinda stood in front of the dugout waiting for the activities to start. As we were standing there, one of the players called David over and said, "There has been a change of plans, I am going to throw out the pitch, you are going to sing the National Anthem." Ha-ha!! The players loved David. In fact, T.J. told us they talked about him long after he left the clubhouse. He made quite an impression on the players! They told David they were going to try to win the game for him. Then David threw out the first pitch, with Brett Butler catching. David did fantastic!!! He stood on the pitcher's mound and made it to home plate! I know that might not sound like a big deal; but our president didn't make it that far!!

Then David went with Brett Butler to exchange line-up cards. Brett handed David the card, and David handed it to the umpire.

Then we got to stand on the field, with the players, for the National Anthem. Then we went to our seats, which were right behind home plate! Fantastic seats!! We were in the shade the whole time. The weather was gorgeous, in the low 70's with a nice breeze. We were a little chilly in our seats, but we had a fantastic time. Amanda and Rick both checked up on us a few times to see if we needed anything. They also gave us food vouchers, for standard baseball fare; hot dog, pretzel, and soda!! The game went into extra innings; it was tied 5-5 at the bottom of the 9th. At the top of the 10th, the Colorado Skysox scored 5 runs!!!! We thought we were doomed! Then we got 4 runs. Then with 2 outs, 2 strikes, and a man on first, the player hit a home run!! So we came back to win, 11-10!! David's first baseball game was a fantastic game!! He wants to go to more games this season! We will be doing that. He had soooo much more fun than he thought he would. The only bad thing was David woke up with his first ever migraine! He was in pain all day, but he said it didn't ruin his day, so that's good. It was a very exciting day. They will be sending us (via Lizzie from NNCCF) a video, pictures, and another shirt. Thank you, again, Northern Nevada Children's Cancer Foundation and Reno Aces, for giving David a day he will never forget! It was a very special day.

Good evening.

Wel​l, tomorrow is the big day! David is pretty excited! He is still nervous, tho. He spent the better part of the day practicing his throwing. Now there is something he can do!! Bryon and I donated blood this morning, then Bryon took David to the park to practice throwing. He does great! As long as he doesn't get too nervous tomorrow!! We got him a pad of paper for autographs! We think it will be a fun day! Thank you for all your encouraging words to him.

Please continue to pray for our finances. We had a couple expensive surprises. Bryon had to have some mandatory work done on his car~~~to the tune of $800!!! Then we got David's Prevacid prescriptio​n refilled (last time it cost us $90) to the surprising tune of $173.52!!!! YIKES!!! We don't know why it was so much; but we don't have the $973.52 it cost for those 2 mandatory things!! *sigh* We really covet your prayers. Thank you.

Good evening.

Wel​l, it was a beautiful day today. It snowed and rained pretty much all day yesterday; and it started out foggy this morning; and then became a beautiful, albeit chilly, day. It was great to see the sun.

David has a great weekend planned. On Suday we are going to the Reno Aces game (for those of you that don't know, the Reno Aces are the Triple A team for the Arizona Diamondback​s. Their Head coach is MLB Hall of Famer Bret Butler). David gets to go into the clubhouse to meet the team, spend time with the team at batting practice, throw out the first pitch and then he will be with Bret Butler to exchange the lineup cards. He gets to be on the field for the pre-game ceremonies (actually, we all do) before throwing out that first pitch! He is pretty excited, and nervous!! Thank you, Northern Nevada Children's Cancer Foundation and Reno Aces for setting this up!! The Reno Aces will be honoring 6 children this year; David is the first. We are so excited for him. Please pray that David won't be too nervous to throw the ball! We will be taking pictures, and Rachel will be videotaping it. I will post pictures as soon as I can.

Well, we are still in limbo with the house. We are really tired of washing dishes by hand, but we don't want to replace the dishwasher until we know what is going on with the house. *sigh* Oh well. Hopefully we will find out SOON!! Please continue to pray for this situation. Thanks.

Good evening.

I am sorry I haven't posted for so long.......​been so very busy.

The calender says Spring; but it snowed all day here today! David loved it!!!

David is doing ok. Our biggest 'complaint' is that he still doesn't have any desire to eat. He went to Bible Study tonight, and didn't eat much. They serve dinner to the kids before Bible Study. David didn't want to eat much, and didn't want anything once we got home, either. *sigh* I'm glad his weight is still in the acceptable range; we just wonder for how long. Thank you for your prayers for his appetite to improve.

Con​nie called today about David's B12. We need to have his blood drawn to check the level before we start the shots. She said that we do NOT want him to become deficient, because then we have to play 'catch up' with his levels. If we caught it in time, he will only have to have the shots once a month! Of course, his levels will have to be checked regularly; and it will be a balancing act~~~for the rest of David's life!!! Connie said that the shot will be able to be given at home. That is bittersweet. That means I will be playing 'nurse' again; or is it still? I am just so sorry for my poor son. This all just sucks so bad. We are still totally enjoying having Emilee. David loves her, just as much as we all do, and she is such a sweet baby. He really 'lights up' when she smiles at him or wants him to pick her up!

School is going ok. I have emailed all his teachers; just like I was instructed to do. I have heard back from 2 of them, and they are very willing to help David succeed. As his English teacher said, "David needs encourageme​nt, not frustration." I really appreciate his English teacher.

Good evening.

I am sorry I haven't posted before now, I wanted to get the official word before posting.

Dav​id went to the oncologist today. She said the nodules are still there; and they are still stable. She said she is not 100% sure it's cancer, but she is not 100% sure it's NOT cancer. The only way to know for sure is to do surgery, and they don't want to do another thoracotomy on David just yet. She will keep a VERY close eye on his lungs. So she will keep David on the every three month scans until October, then we will go to every 4 months.

We talked to the Child Psychologis​t, and she is worried that David is suffering from depression; not that anyone can blame him. Please pray for him. Thank you. He did lose a couple of pounds, but he is still at an acceptable weight. We were also told that we will be starting David's vitamin B12 shots soon. I am not exactly sure when, but they are getting the plans together. They were originally going to wait until his levels dropped significant​ly, but decided there was no need to wait. They know the levels will drop, so they might as well get started. So he will NEVER be able to leave cancer totally behind him. I told him that his cancer is the gift that just keeps on giving!!! And it stinks!! I am not looking forward to my son having to go through these shots for the rest of his life!! *sigh*

The bone scan looks good. There is the normal 'uptake' in his left foot and at the top of the prosthesis. They think the uptake in his left foot is from overuse~~it still bears the brunt of his walking. He still limps, but I honestly think he always will. We were told that with the size of his tumor, and the amount of muscle they removed so they could get clear margins, he will never have a normal gait. But that is just something he will have to deal with. He is that strong trooper, and he will still live life to the fullest; for him. I am praising God that he is still alive! I will take him, disabled and all!

Thank you for all the birthday wishes! He had a good birthday. I made the sour cream chicken enchiladas, and he ate 5 of them. Wylene, thank you for the generous gift to him. Thank you, all of you, for thinking of him, and remembering him.

Good evening.

I am sorry I haven't posted yet~~~~I'm hoping that no news is good news. We don't have any news yet. *sigh* I will call tomorrow, and hopefully I will find out something.

I neglected to tell you that on our way to Oakland we had to go through a LOT of snow!! We woke up Monday morning to about 2 1/2" of snow!!! It was great!! It was beautiful in Oakland. David hates being there, of course, but it was a beautiful day. The scans went fine. Christine needed to take a couple extra bone scan pictures; she saw some things she didn't like. We also got to meet up with a boy we 'met' on our support group website. His name is Alex and he is just a few weeks older than David!! He was having his first post-chemo scans. He had his CT scan just before David; and he had his bone scan just before David. We spent a lot of time chatting between the time the boys were injected and they had their bone scans!! It did help pass the time! David is glad those scans are over! To tell the truth, so are we. We just want to know the results. I will post when I find out.

We 'celebrated' David's birthday today, even though his birthday isn't until tomorrow. That just means Jeremy and Lucy were here. Tomorrow David wants me to make Sour Cream Chicken Enchiladas for dinner. It will be a yummy dinner. I can't believe my 'baby' will be 16 years old!! I am just thankful he is here to turn 16. I hope he has a great birthday tomorrow.

Pl​ease continue to pray for some situations that really need your prayers. There have been people that have let me know exactly how they feel about me and my family (the 7 of us). I can't go into details, I just request prayers. I think they are 'toxic' people in my life that I need to just let go of, and release from my life. That is so much easier said than done~~~~giv​en who the people are. Please, please pray for me. Thanks.

Good evening.

Dav​id's scans went well yesterday. We left at 5am and got to Oakland Children's Hospital at 9am. We had enough time to go get a coffee at the outpatient clinic before checking in with radiology. We won't know the results for a couple days, though. Please continue to pray that the lung mets are gone; thanks!

Our hearts are heavy, again. Once again I tell you that an Osteo Warrior has lost his battle with this wretched monster. Keaton died this morning. He was David's age. I HATE CANCER!!! I HATE OSTEOSARCOM​A!!! I am so sick of our osteo family members burying their babies!! This is just not right! Hopefully some of the money my daughters and I raised will go to Osteosarcom​a research, and we won't have shaved our heads in vain!! Please remember Keaton's family in your prayers as they try to deal with the loss of their son/brother​/uncle. Thank you.

Good evening. I hope you all had a great day celebrating our risen Savior.

We had a good day. We went to church this morning, and it was good. I want to say a big THANK YOU to our church family. Last week they held a rummage sale with all the proceeds going to us. This morning they presented us with a generous check, and I just want them to know how much we appreciate it. Thank you, church family. We are lucky to have 2 families; our church family and our Osteo family!! Our Osteo family is a family that NONE of us want to be a part of; and we all know exactly what each other is going through. We are a very close-knit family, and I love and appreciate each and every one of them!! And our church family~~~wh​at can I say? We couldn't have gotten this far in this journey without their love, support, and prayers. Thank you; we love you!!

Jeremy and Lucy were here for lunch, yay! It was a yummy lunch of tri-tip, baked potatoes, corn, and fruit salad. The fruit salad was wonderful! It had apples, bananas, strawberrie​s, raspberries​, and blackberrie​s in it! Sooooo yummy. Then David wanted to have an Easter egg hunt. He still likes to do that, so does Rachel, so Bryon and I hid the eggs. But we only did it ONCE; it was freezing today!! And VERY windy (big surprise, I know). So once they found all the eggs I peeled them all and made egg salad and 'angeled' eggs (not 'deviled' eggs, lol). Jeremy and Lucy left around 2:30, and Jennifer left around 4:30. It was a great day with family.

HAPPY EASTER, EVERYONE!!!​

I hope everyone is having a good weekend. Ours is going fast, as usual. We did a little shopping today; Bryon and Jeremy helped a lady from church load up a moving truck; we went to church; and the kids colored eggs. It has been a pretty hectic day. Tomorrow we will go to church, and then Jeremy and Lucy will come over for lunch. We are going to have BBQ tri tip, baked potatoes, and a fruit salad. It will be a yummy lunch.

Scanxiety is alive and well around here. Please pray for David's scans on Tuesday. We have to be at Oakland Children's Hospital at 9:30am. David has the injection for the bone scan at 10:00am; the CT scan at 11:00am; and the bone scan at 1:00pm. Hopefully they can get us in early, as usual. Christine and Bryant are really good at getting us in early. Please pray that the scans go well, and that there are no surprises. Thank you.

Good evening.

First, it is no longer Spring here in Northern Nevada. We have rewound to December. It was extremely windy yesterday and last night, and it has snowed all day today!! Our yard is white, again.

David had PT in the pool today, and he did very well. He was a bit cold outside afterwards; he was just wearing his wet swimsuit, shirt, and flip flops; but he had a good workout. He gets so tired, but it is so good for him.

Oh, I have Emilee back!! Yay! She is such a sweet baby. I am glad to get her back. I get my 'baby fix' again!! She is such a little chatterbox now! David is glad to have her back, too.

David did ride his bike a bit on Sunday afternoon. He hasn't since then, it has been way too windy, cold, and snowy!!! He really loved being able to do something 'normal' for a couple of days!! Once the weather changes again I am sure he will be out riding again.

David is bummed. He doesn't have Bible Study tomorrow night, they are on Spring Break. He really likes to go, and he will miss it. Actually, they are off for 2 weeks. But next week he will be gone, anyway.

We are getting a lot of scanxiety right now. David's scans are one week from today, April 6th. We are quite concerned about the nodules in his lungs~~what have they been doing these last 3 months? Have they been growing? Are they still stable? Please pray that they are still stable, or GONE! Thank you!

Good evening.

Tod​ay was a busy day, as usual! We had to go to church for a little bit. It was good to see Karen and Elaine! Elaine looks great, and she is such a cutie! Then by the time we got home is was early afternoon. Bryon wanted to clean the garage today, and I had a bit of shopping to do. So Rachel and I went shopping while Bryon worked on the garage; with help from Jennifer and David. Unfortunate​ly, we were not able to go to church tonight. Anyway, something wonderful happened today. As Bryon was cleaning the garage, David asked for his bike down (the bicycles are hanging on hooks from the roof of the garage), so Bryon got it down for him. Then Bryon pumped up the tires, and David went bike riding!!! He was a 'normal' kid today for a few hours!! I can't tell you how excited we were! Brought tears to our eyes. David hasn't been able to ride his bike for 2 1/2 years!!! It was very exciting! He does need a bigger bike now, but at least he can ride this one until we can afford to get him another one. I wanted to share that fantastic news with my Caring Bridge family. It is so nice to have my Osteo family and my CB family to share things with; I know YOU all care!! Thank you for that!

David is pretty sore this evening, riding his bike took a lot out of him. But he is so happy and proud of himself! Almost as happy and proud of him as we are. Plus he got pretty worn out helping his dad with the garage. No, the garage isn't done; that will take a couple more days. But it will get done.

Good afternoon.

S​orry I didn't update yesterday; my 'puter was sick. It didn't want to play anymore. But it is back!! Good thing my husband is a 'computer geek' and he fixed it for me!! YAY! Thanks, babe!

Yester​day was my younger daughter's birthday. Happy Birthday, Rachel! Sorry I couldn't post that yesterday. But I did post in on Facebook, and I told her in person, so this is just a day late here! Sorry, Baby Girl!! But I think she had a good day. We are going to celebrate it on Saturday when all 7 of us will be together!

Da​vid had PT in the pool yesterday, and in the office today. He is still sore, and his knee was really hurting today. One of the exercises he does was causing him quite a bit of pain, so he didn't do as many reps as usual. But, the trooper that he is, he still did the exercise. He is such a great kid. I know I say that all the time, but it is so true. He amazes us daily! He has been through more, as a child, than any adult I know, and he still smiles! He hasn't lost his sense of humor. He, as a child, has learned to live with some chronic pain, and he still enjoys life. He has NEVER had a 'pity party', he has NEVER thought 'why me?', he just embraces each day. He, like I said, amazes us daily!!!! I am so proud of him. I am sooo glad he is mine!! Yup, I am bragging again! Hee-hee!! Thank you for your continued prayers for him. I know that your prayers are helping him get through this with the attitude he has.

Thank you, Sharon, for the firewood. Thank you, Amy, for the deposit in David's account. Thank you, whoever you are, who deposit money in David's account. I don't know who you are (not sure who Amy is, even), but God does! I ask him to grant you all a special blessing for the speciall blessing you have given us!! I can't tell you how much we need and appreciate your generosity. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! God bless you!

Thank you so much for all your prayers. We still haven't heard any news on the house lately. We did get a letter a week or so ago; but it had the tone of a temper tantrum. It is a long, convoluted story, but we feel they are just angry that we went 'over their heads' and went to our congressman​, Dean Heller, for help. So, if they help us, (after this letter) they can look like they were just so compassiona​te and gave us a deal that we don't deserve. *sigh* I guess time will tell. I am not holding my breath, and I will accept whatever the decision is. God knows best, and He is in control. It is just hard when I really want to keep my house. Please continue to pray about this situation. Thank you.

Please continue to pray for Keaton, Todd, and Rachel. Also, please continue to pray for Lindsey's family. She also has a twin sister, and I am sure this has got to be pretty tough on her. Thank you.

Sor​ry I haven't updated for awhile. The weekend went by waaay to fast!

David is doing ok. His knee is still sore. He had PT in the pool last Thursday, and in the office on Friday. He will go to the pool tomorrow. He is doing ok in school. He needs prayer for his Math; that is the subject that he is having the most trouble with. The other subjects are all A's and one B. Please pray that he can get some work done in Math. Thank you.

Good evening.

We are finally home from Reno after St. Baldrick's. We; me, Jennifer, and Rachel; actually shaved our heads for Childhood Cancer Research. Our team, Team David, had 7 shavees. Thank you Jay, Jordan, Wayne, and Adam for joining us and supporting David; and all children with cancer. We raised over $3000!! Yay!! Thank you, all of you who contributed to St. Baldrick's in Team David's name! We had a choice to go bald, so many children with cancer didn't get the choice; including David. He says he never wants to be bald again! We pray he never has to be. It was great to see Teagan tonight! She is such a doll! We do love that little girl. It was great to see Darren, Wendy, and Roman, too!! It was a very loud event! But it was good. It was wonderful to see how so people come out to support Childhood Cancer Awareness and Research. Some of the money raised stays local, so it helps families here! That is so good. So the event is finally over, the three of us girls are bald! I just hope my hair grows fast!!!

Davi​d had PT today, and he did good. He did get tired, as usual. And tomorrow he has PT in the pool. He is also working out some at home. He is such a great kid!! So he is getting stronger, slowly but surely. Thank you for your continued prayers for him.

Please continue to pray for David and his schooling. It is so hard for me to watch this child, who school used to come fairly easy to, struggle. Thank you for your prayers.

Good evening, everyone. It was a beautiful day today. Spring appears to be here; but this is Northern Nevada.......​never assume anything! I still tell the story of my foiled attempt to go on a picnic on Mother's Day~~~~foil​ed by 6" of snow!!! So, even though my daffodils are blooming, and the weather is in the high 60's; I know it could change at a moment's notice!! But we are enjoying the nice days.

Tomorr​ow is my last day to have hair! YIKES!! Rachel and I are going to donate our hair, so we will put our hair in a ponytail before the shave. I can't believe it is tomorrow already. I know it is for a great cause, but I am still nervous. People don't understand that this is THE largest national fundraiser for Childhood Cancer!!! And our little town of Reno raises more money than a lot of bigger cities!! Nevada people care about their children!! Please pray that everything goes well tomorrow. Thanks.

Davi​d had PT in the pool today; and he did very well. He got teased by the older ladies. He is glad Toby is in the pool with him, another male in the pool with him! Poor guys, all these older ladies. The ladies are sweet, but there are just more of them than guys! David was in the pool for months alone with these ladies before Toby came along. I am sorry Toby has to be there, but David is glad he is there!! Anyway, David did really good today. His knee has been sore for quite some time; and he is limping a lot. He will be going to PT in the office tomorrow and do some exercises. He doesn't want to, of course, but that is just too bad. I know he will still work hard and do his best (he always does).

David is still plugging away at school. He is trying his best, and that is all we have ever asked of him. He has his good days and bad days, but he still just does his best. Please continue to pray that he gets through this year~~and passes! Thanks.

Good afternoon. Or is it evening? It is so light out I get confused, lol.

I will start by saying I HATE LOSING MY HOUR!!! I hate Daylight Savings Time!! I just wish they would leave the time one way or the other! I hate changing all the clocks in my house twice a year. Ok, I got that off my chest!

Sorry I haven't updated. Here is how Thursday went~~~Davi​d ate eggs with cheese and toast for breakfast. Oh, and a glass of chocolate milk. Then David and I left for Reno around 8-ish. The traffic was light~~we were going against traffic. We got to the place at 8:40. We sat in the car for awhile, David wasn't ready to go in quite yet. So around 8:50 I prayed with him and he went in. Well, I went in, too, because I needed to use the restroom. Then he went in and I left. I went to Starbucks to get another one of those Dark Cherry Mochas (nonfat, decaf, no whip). It was yummy. But I think I was just nervous for David, because it kinda upset my stomach. After I left Starbucks I went over to Walmart. David needs shorts for this summer, and Walmart had some on sale, so I bought him 3 pair. It is really hard to find shorts for him, he will probably have to wear a belt with them. But that is ok, 2 of the pairs came with a belt!!! The kid is not in boy's sizes anymore, and the men's sizes don't go small enough around the waist for him!! *sigh* Sorry, I got sidetracked. After I spent some time killing time in Walmart, I decided to head back in the direction of David since I figured he would be done soon. As I was driving, and was almost there, he sent me a text that he was done! It was around 10:30. So I picked him up and we had time to kill until 1:00; so we went to REI and walked around there. We checked out the camping stuff because we are very excited to go camping!!! Then David's leg was tired, he still is lacking in the stamina category, so we drove around. We drove around Pickett Park, and then David said he was ready for lunch. We ended up at Jack in the Box and he ate a Chicken Fajita Pita. He informed me that he really doesn't like fast food. He is soooo like me! I don't like fast food, either. I would much rather eat my cooking, and so would he! It is a good thing we don't eat out much! Besides the fact that we can't afford it, we don't really like it! Anyway, then he went back in about 12:55 for his math test at 1:00. I went to Ross to kill time. The Ross in Carson is pretty nice; the Ross in Reno is nasty! I went there because someone told Rachel that Marshall's has cute hats, and I thought I would check out Ross. Ross only has a couple ball cap style hats; and we don't really need any more ball caps! Then I just went back and waited for David in the car. I did some reading in my Bible and prayed for David to do well. He was done around 3:00, and then we went home. He is not sure how he did on the tests. He does have 'chemo brain,' and that means he has some long-term and short-term memory loss. It really sucks. He said there were some questions he had to read over and over because he forgot what he just read!! I feel so bad for him. He is such a smart kid, and this whole cancer crap has changed that. He is still smart, but the memory loss is hard on him. He is just so glad the tests are over. We are praying he passed; he doesn't want to have to go through this again!! Thanks for your prayers for him.

This weekend has been quick, as usual. Bryon and I went to church last night and the girls took David to see "Alice in Wonderland" in 3D. He loved it! Then we all went to church this morning, and it was very good. Then Jeremy and Lucy came over and we made tri-tip sandwiches. They were very yummy.

Please pray for Jeremy and Lucy. They did their income taxes, and they have to pay well over $1000!! Please keep the in your prayers. Thank you.

Please continue to pray about our house; hopefully we will hear soon what is going on. There is some activity, and we really would like to keep it. If it is not God's will~~~~it is just a house. Thank you for your prayers.

We are already getting 'scanxiety' about David's next scans. We are praying that those nodules in his lungs remain stable, or like I said before, just flat out disappear!!! We prefer to have them disappear, of course.

I am getting pretty nervous about shaving my head! Rachel and I have had long hair forever!! Jennifer has had short hair for years, so she is not nervous; but Rachel and I are. We are nervous and excited at the same time! I want to say another 'Thank You' to those of you who have donated to St. Baldrick's for Team David!!! Vicki, thank you for doing it in memory of Mattie. Team David raised over $3000 so far! Thank you!!!

Good evening. Today was rather stressful~~​~I will give you all the details.

Ok, David got up in time to eat most of a breakfast burrito for breakfast. I made it for him, and he did eat about 2/3 of it. Oh, we woke up to at least 2" of snow!! We wanted to leave at 7:45 so we could make sure we got there in time; with all the snow and ice on the road. Well, we left a little after 8:00. Bryon was a bit stressed because the roads were rather slick, but the further north we traveled the better the roads got. By the time we were in Reno, the roads were pretty dry! Very weird! Anyway, we got to the building at 8:40. So even though we left later than we wanted to, we still got there early! David was quite nervous, poor guy. But we dropped him off in the room, chatted with the teacher for a minute, and then left. Bryon and I went to Starbucks for some coffee (they have a great new Dark Cherry Mocha, yummy), and sat and talked. We figured David would be done around 10:30, so we went back to wait for him. We went down by the room and saw him standing by the 'teacher's desk' so we figured he was almost done. Well, the teacher came out and said that he will be awhile still; he had to start over. What happened was they gave him and four other students the wrong test!! Well, not sure if it was the wrong test or the wrong answer sheet, but the two didn't go together. So the 5 students had to start over again. Except, one of the kids left without knowing that it was the wrong one, so he will have to do it over again!! The teacher said, "Oh, he is going to love me!" So David finished about 12:15. Then we took him to lunch at A&W (yuck) and he ate ok. Then it was time to take him back for the writing part of the test. After we dropped him off, Bryon and I went to Baja Fresh for lunch. We just sat there and ate a nice leisurely lunch. Then we went back to the place and waited. David finally got done with the writing test about 4:15. We scooted home, dropped him off, and then left again to go back to Reno for our support group meeting (we missed you, Roseanne). Then we went to In-N-Out for dinner (sorry, Kim) and we got home about 9:15. Talk about a long day!! Tomorrow David and I will go back to Reno for day #2 of tests. Science from 9-12; and Math from 1-4. It will be another long day; I will be glad when it is over! Thank you for your prayers for David today. Please remember to pray for him tomorrow; he is very nervous about these tests. He does NOT like Math, and he is pretty uptight about that test. Thank you for your prayers!!

Good evening.

Wel​l, tomorrow is day #1 of David's tests. Tomorrow is Reading from 9-12; and Writing from 1-4. It is going to be a loonnnng day! He has to get up earlier than he usually does, eat a good breakfast (which he usually does NOT do), and be ready for the test at 9am sharp! Please keep him in your prayers throughout the day tomorrow. Tomorrow is Bryon's furlough day, so the 3 of us are going together. Bryon and I will figure out something to do all day. Then we have to scoot home so David can go to Bible Study (Jennifer will be taking him), and Bryon and I will be going back to Reno for our support group meeting! It is going to be a VERY stressful day. Then on Thursday David and I will be going to Reno for day #2 of tests. I will have to find something to do for 7 hours! I am sure I will find something to occupy my time. I love my family; and being with them; but there are times I LOVE being alone (maybe because those times don't happen often)! David just want these next two days to be over!! Poor kid, I can't say as I blame him! So please, please pray that he passes these tests. If he doesn't, he will have more chances, but he just wants to pass them the first time! Thank you for your prayers.

Ple​ase keep Sara in your prayers; this is her last chemo!! I am so happy for her! She is looking at another thoracotomy in her future, but her chemo will be over. Chemo hinders healing, so it will be good that her chemo will be done before her second thoracotomy. Thank you for remembering her in your prayers.

Ple​ase pray for Jennifer. She is a bit under the weather. She didn't have a voice this morning. Thank you.

Good evening. I hope you all had a good weekend. Ours was fast, as usual. Yesterday Bryon and I went for a drive around Lake Tahoe. We took my best friend with us; her husband was working. I just felt the need to get out and go somewhere (can't really afford to GO anywhere) so we took a drive. It was fun. It snowed on us, and there was still quite a bit of snow on the ground. We got home in time to go to church, yay! Then we came home and had dinner. It was a fun day.

Today Bryon and the girls went to church; David and I stayed home. I made a bunch of enchiladas (4 1/2 dozen) for lunch, usually Jeremy and Lucy come over and I wanted to make sure we had enough for today, and some leftovers! Well, Jeremy and Lucy didn't come over, sadness. I really miss them. So we have plenty of enchiladas for lunches this week! Bryon is happy about that. David ate 5 of them for lunch!! He is holding his own in the weight category! We are really happy about that! So that was our weekend.

Whe​n it rains it pours in the Koury family. I have told you before how my freezer is on the fritz frequently; it won't freeze things. Sometimes some element goes out and we have to get it fixed. Fortunately​, we have a warranty on the freezer. Anyway, I think our fridge is dying. It is about 12 years old, and I know they don't last forever. Now what is happening is the fridge is freezing stuff!! My lettuce keeps freezing in the crisper! My milk sometimes freezes. I even turned it down to a lower number~~~ didn't help. AND now my dishwasher died today. It got all the way through the wash and rinse cycle and then it quit working. It won't drain the water that is in the bottom. So now we are washing dishes by hand!! Grrrr! I just bought a washing machine a few months ago (when the old one died), and I guess my other appliances got jealous, or angry, or something! LOL. You would think they would NOT break for fear of being replaced! Anyway, all kidding aside, we are just going to have to deal with washing dishes by hand, and fiddle with the fridge more, I guess. Bryon doesn't think the warranty is going to cover a fridge that is just too old! *sigh* If it isn't one thing it is another around here. But we will perservere!​

Tomorrow David has PT and we have some errands to run. Then Wednesday and Thursday are David's tests! He is getting very nervous about them. Please continue to pray for him! Thank you.
